What to know about the A1 battery

The A1 is the easiest Audi to do a battery on, and also the one most often fitted with the wrong one. It is a small car, so shops reach for a small standard battery. If yours has start-stop it left the factory with an EFB or AGM, and that is what has to go back in.

Where is the battery on an Audi A1?

Most A1s carry the battery under the bonnet on the left side. Some first-generation cars with larger engines have it under the boot floor instead.

What our technicians watch for on the A1

  • Small battery tray, so the exact case size matters
  • Start-stop cars must not get a standard battery
  • City-only driving is hard on it, so test yearly

Signs your A1 battery is on its way out

  • Start-stop stops working or shows as unavailable
  • The engine turns over more slowly on the first start of the day
  • "Low battery" or "Electrical system" messages in the instrument cluster
  • MMI or interior lights switch off sooner than they used to
  • The battery is more than two UAE summers old

Audi A1 battery questions

Short answers. Anything else — WhatsApp us.

Can I put a bigger battery in my A1?

Only if it fits the tray and clamp. A slightly higher capacity in the same case size is fine and is coded in. A physically larger battery will not clamp down safely, so we do not fit one.

Why does my A1 start-stop no longer work?

The car disables start-stop when the battery charge or health drops below a threshold. It is often the first sign of a tired battery, months before the car struggles to start.

How fast can you replace an Audi battery in Dubai?

The nearest van usually reaches you in 20 to 35 minutes in Dubai, a little longer in outer Abu Dhabi and Sharjah. Fitting and coding take 25 to 45 minutes depending on where the battery sits in your model.

Does an Audi need battery coding after replacement?

Most Audis built from around 2008 do. The car's energy management has to be told a new battery is fitted, with its capacity and type. We do this on site with a diagnostic tool as part of the fitting.

How it works

No towing. No workshop. Just this:

On site: 25 to 45 minutes

  1. Message us

Send your model, year and location pin on WhatsApp. We confirm the right battery before we drive out.

  2. We drive over

Nearest van heads to you. In Dubai that is usually 20 to 35 minutes. You get the technician's number.

  3. We test, then fit

Battery, alternator and drain test first. Needs just a jump? That is all you pay for. Needs a battery? We fit it and keep your settings.

  4. We code and you pay

New battery coded to your Audi. You see the readings, pay by card, cash or Tabby, we take the old one.
