What to know about the S3 battery

Because the S3 keeps its battery in the engine bay, it takes the full heat of a UAE summer plus the heat of the engine. That is why A3 batteries here tend to go at around the two-year mark. The insulating jacket around the battery matters, so we always refit it.

As an S or RS model, the S3 runs bigger cooling fans, pumps and audio than the standard car, so it should get the AGM battery at the upper end of the capacity range, not the cheapest one that fits.

Is the S3 battery AGM or EFB?

It depends on engine and year. Many petrol A3s came with EFB and many S3, RS3 and diesel cars with AGM. We read the label on the fitted battery and match it, or upgrade EFB to AGM if you want longer life.

How long does a S3 battery last in Dubai?

Two to three years is common here because the battery sits next to the engine. Shaded parking and a weekly longer drive help it reach the upper end of that.

How fast can you replace an Audi battery in Dubai?
