What to know about the A5 battery

Many A5 owners in the UAE keep the car as a weekend drive. That is the worst pattern for a battery: long idle periods, then short trips. If yours sits for days at a time, the battery will show it before anything else does, usually with start-stop switching itself off.

My A5 sits for a week at a time. Is that why the battery died?

It is a likely cause. The car draws a small current while parked. A healthy battery copes for two to three weeks, an older one may not manage five days. A test will show whether it needs replacing or just charging.

Can you change a A5 battery in a basement car park?

Yes. The battery is in the boot, so we only need space to open the tailgate fully. Basement jobs are routine for us.
