What to know about the e-tron Sportback battery
An e-tron Sportback with a full traction battery can still refuse to switch on. The 12V battery powers the locks, screens and the contactors that connect the main pack. When it fails the car looks completely dead. Replacing it is a normal 12V job and does not touch the high-voltage system.
The e-tron Sportback is fully electric. Everything on this page refers to its 12V battery, the one that wakes the car up. The high-voltage traction battery is a separate system that we do not service.
The Sportback body changes the boot shape and trim, not the battery. Access and fitting time are the same as the standard e-tron Sportback.

Does the e-tron Sportback have a normal car battery?
Yes, a 12V AGM battery at the front. It runs the low-voltage systems and is charged from the main pack. It wears out like any other battery, typically after a few UAE summers.
My e-tron Sportback will not unlock or switch on. Is it the 12V battery?
That is the most common cause. Use the mechanical key to get in. We can power the 12V system, confirm with a test and replace the battery on site.
Where is the battery in my Audi?
It depends on the model. A3, Q2 and Q3 carry it in the engine bay. A4, A5, A6, A7, A8 and Q5 usually have it under the boot floor. The first Q7 has it under a front seat. Our technician will know before arriving.
Can you come to a basement or tower car park?
Yes. Most of our Dubai jobs are in basements and podium car parks. The technician carries the battery and tools in by hand if the van cannot enter. Tell security a service visit is coming.
