What to know about the Q2L battery

The Q2L is mostly a city car in the UAE: short hops, valet parking, AC on from the first second. That duty cycle never lets the battery reach full charge. If start-stop has quietly stopped working on yours, the battery is the first thing to test.

The Q2L is a long-wheelbase version, mostly built for the Chinese market. Some reach the UAE as private imports. The battery and coding process match the standard-wheelbase car, though we confirm the part against the chassis number.

Should I upgrade my Q2L from EFB to AGM?

It is a worthwhile upgrade if you do mostly short trips. AGM tolerates partial charge and heat better. We code the car to the new technology so it charges it correctly.

How long does it take to change a Q2L battery?

About 25 minutes including the test and coding. The battery is easy to reach under the bonnet.

Where is the battery in my Audi?

It depends on the model. A3, Q2 and Q3 carry it in the engine bay. A4, A5, A6, A7, A8 and Q5 usually have it under the boot floor. The first Q7 has it under a front seat. Our technician will know before arriving.

Can you come to a basement or tower car park?

Yes. Most of our Dubai jobs are in basements and podium car parks. The technician carries the battery and tools in by hand if the van cannot enter. Tell security a service visit is coming.
