What is different about a Subaru battery

Subaru models mostly use JIS-pattern batteries with top posts and a clamp across the top, a different shape from the DIN batteries in an Audi. They are simple to fit and seldom need coding. The important part is matching the size code and terminal layout exactly.

Our vans are set up around Audi, which makes them well equipped for any car with monitored batteries and coding needs. For Subaru we bring the same tester, memory keeper and diagnostic tool.

Does a Subaru battery need coding?

Usually not. Most Subaru models accept a new battery without registration. A few recent start-stop models benefit from a reset, which we do when needed.
